A quite special day
Last night, I happened to see a friend, Wong Wei Li, online in MSN Messenger. Thinking that we've not been chatting for a long time, I decided to drop by and say hi. So we had quite a long chat and then realised that I didn't have Tan-Loh Joash in my MSN Messenger, so I added him into my list immediately. Next thing I knew was that both Wei Li and Joash will be leaving to Shah Alam on the 26th of June, therefore I felt like meeting them at least once again before I go to Beijing, otherwise by the time I return, they would have already left Ipoh.
Not long after that, I got to know from Wei Li that she, Joash and a few other friends went to Jusco for a movie (or just to hang around). Immediately, I suggested that we should at least meet once again this week before I go to Beijing. She agreed to that suggestion and I then telephoned Jia Min and Joash. After a long while of trying to contact both of them, Joash went online and said that it would be great to go out and meet today. I knew that Jia Min has school so I suggested that we meet today at 2.00 p.m. at MPH Bookstores, and then we'd go and watch Cars at 3.35 p.m.
I sent Jia Min an SMS asking her if she was free today, and after about ten minutes, she said OK. I told her that I couldn't book the tickets, so she helped me book them (she was still working in TGV for the last night). So, everything was set and organised.
The next day (that is, today), I went to school first at about 12.00 noon to meet teachers and friends. It was quite a nice although short reunion with friends whom I've not met for quite some time, notably Chan Chee Lupp, Wong Kee Cheong, Ow Chee Keen, Lee Wai Hin, Patrick Thilagaraj, Yohanand, Jonathan Chew, Gooi Harvey, Keith Foo and others. It was just after dismissal for the Form 6 students and I considered myself lucky to be able to meet them all at the same place. For a while, I was like a celebrity or something. Hehe...
A visit to the school was good for me. I was happy to meet my teachers at the teachers' room; they received me with such a warm welcome and asking me how my life is in UTP. Then, I went to the IT lab, expecting my former form teacher, Pn. Leela to be around. Unfortunately, she wasn't. According to another teacher, Mr. Mathan, she is currently outstation. So I could only see her during Speech Day, which will be held three days after I return from Beijing.
After that, I made my way to the Brothers' Quarters to meet Mrs. Yee Chee Yoong, my teacher advisor who assisted me very much during the National Science Quiz. Unfortunately, she was not to be seen anywhere either. Anyway, I think I shall not miss much, because I'm going to school again tomorrow, to see how the Michaelian Chinese Orchestra and the Drama team are doing.
At 2.00 p.m., the four of us, Jia Min, Joash, Wei Li and I were at Jusco. There we went to the food court for lunch and had a nice talk, laughing all the way with our silly jokes and plain nonsense. Then at 3.35 p.m. we made our way to the Cinema to watch Pixar's new cartoon, Cars.
Let me testify this: Cars is worth watching! Like Finding Nemo, Cars has a very interesting story-line, full of humour to tickle your funny bone. I guarantee you that Cars will not fail to make you laugh from the beginning till the end, and it will definitely not disappoint you. Its message is simple: winning is not everything. As a spoiler, Cars is about a race-car that is aiming for the prestigious Piston Cup by winning the racing competition, only to realise that something else means more than the Piston Cup.
Before the movie, we discussed about whatever we'd done during the holidays. Joash and Wei Li explained that they had been going to the General Hospital to do some sort of work (no pay, mind you). They said that they had been in the microbiology laboratory. It seems that Joash's father works in the microbiology laboratory, therefore Joash and Wei Li get special privilege to go into the lab. For an instant, I was interested. But before I could say anything, Jonathan Chew called Joash to say that he would like to go to the microbiology lab tomorrow. Immediately, I told Joash that I'd like to visit the lab, too, to see how the blood, urine, stool and all sorts of tests are being done. Besides that, the lab cultivates bacteria to determine what causes the bacteria to grow and harm the patients.
I know that I'm in the Engineering line already, but sheer interest got me hooked up a bit to Biology. I told Joash that I'd like to go as well, and he asked me if I have a lab coat. I told him that I have one that I got from the university, and after describing my coat to him, he says that I'll need to wear that to the lab. However, first he'll need to ask permission to get two more persons into the lab. After returning home from the movie, Joash sent me an SMS and gave me the green light. I'm looking forward to seeing them at the microbiology lab tomorrow. It'll be such an experience for me!
OK, enough of that now. A few days ago, my mother had been looking at my hair. She spotted a bottle of gel that my uncle left behind while he stayed in our house for a few days. Once, she got the bottle of gel and put gel on my hair to see how I would look like with a certain hairstyle using the gel. So, she started meddling my hair using the gel, trying to spike up my hair. When I look at the mirror, I saw something familiar. That hairstyle looked like Beckham's hairstyle when he spiked them up. I was like, "What the..." Speechless.
Today, before I went out, I decided to see how would I look with some of the gel on my hair, and make my hair according to my own style. Here is what I got (only the hair view is provided for clarity sake):
I don't know; what do you think?
So I guess that's all for this entry. I'll be seeing some more people in St. Michael's tomorrow, no doubt.
