Some busier days, and a break
Never before had I find it so hard as to post an entry in my blog. For the past few days, the network has never been any better. Reading the news in The Star Online is already difficult enough because I couldn't even load the smallest of articles at times, so what more to post up a blog entry?
The past few days went rather pleasant. However, with tests around the corner, you cannot expect any of us to just relax and take things easily. Still, this week didn't feel as hectic as last week, and it felt that this week just flew much faster than I had expected.
It has been rather an eventful week. Just yesterday, we celebrated the Independence Day of our country. Even before 12.00 midnight of 31st of August 2006, there was a Merdeka convoy passing through every village in our campus, making as much noise as they could with their horns, as if waking up everybody on purpose to celebrate the National Independence Day. The convoy comprised of a big group of cars draped on the Malaysian flags and motorcycles. As there was a countdown, my friends and I decided to participate in the countdown, which was located at the Main Hall.
It was 11.45 p.m. on the 30th of August when we arrived at the Main Hall. With my digital camera, I started recording a video beginning on 11.55 p.m. (sorry, I couldn't upload the video here) and recorded the whole countdown. At 12.00 midnight, it was "Merdeka!" And the singing of the national anthem and a few patriotic songs began. Even the Rector of UTP was there. He was happy to see such a lot of students attending the Merdeka celebration.
After midnight of 31st of August, none of us wanted to sleep early because there wouldn't be any lectures on the day. So, I think you can guess what happened next after the celebration.
During the day, it was by far the quitest day ever. No cars passing by, laptops off, textbooks on the table. Both my roommate, Brian, and I were studied and revised. Even when Jared dropped by, he decided to grab Brian's comic and read quietly. We spent almost one and a half hour of quiet time. Then, not long after I had finished revising my Calculus, Jared decided to have a game of DotA.
Today, my day didn't start very well. Neither did my coursemates. We went to the computer lab for our ICIS lab session. It was scheduled at 8.00 a.m. but we officially started at 8.30 a.m. We only began our work at 9.15 a.m. We had another lecture at 10.00 a.m. but by the time we finished our lab work (which was supposedly an assignment), it was already 10.05 a.m. So, we were too late to attend the lecture already. By the time everyone finished their work, it was already 10.30 a.m. A walk from the lab to the lecture hall would take about 15 minutes, so by the time we reached the the lecture hall, it would already be 10.45 a.m. and the lecture would have already finished. So, we skipped the lecture!
At around 2.20 p.m. we decided to explain to the lecturer about what happened. Our explanation was well accepted and fortunately no attendance was taken at all during the lecture. Therefore, we can consider ourselves present during the lecture. However, the lecturer reminded us to read the materials that we missed and told us not to repeat this anymore. We got away with it this time. Initially, we thought that we would be in hot soup.
I have decided not to go home this weekend, because there's a lot of work to do and I need to have a lot of discussions throughout the weekend. On Monday, there will be a presentation during tutorials and there will be tests soon enough.
All right, I think I'll end here. I want to go to the Sports Complex now to have a game of tennis.
