A New Year's post
The new year signifies the end of 2006 and the beginning of 2007. What lies ahead for all of us is entirely unknown, but personally I am looking forward to this year and to what is ahead of me. I can hardly wait for my campus life to start again.
The new year also signifies the second anniversary of this blog, which will be soon in February. Much has been written over the years and I am happy that I have been faithful in blogging. Although I may not have many readers of this blog, I am thankful that I have been able to make this blog grow and that I have been able to confide in it.
Initially this blog has been one for me to express myself, and still is one, although I've also begun to discuss about other issues related to general knowledge, politics, religion and so on. All these discussions are meant for information and comments; they are not meant for flaming or waging discomfort.
Throughout these two years my style of writing has certainly changed. Sometimes, it is nice to travel down memory lane and have a nice laugh thinking about how childish sometimes my substances were. And there were times when I would go like, "Did I really write those?"
There were some dark moments for this blog, too. Once somebody either hacked my account or managed to somehow obtain my account password and gained access to my blog. Fortunately, the intruder did not do any damage to my blog, but merely wrote some Shakespeare's sonnets and poems and saved them as drafts in my blog. I was in panic for a while and quickly changed the password to my blog; so far, I have not detected any abnormal activity in my blog.
This blog has also "travelled" far and wide. Wherever I've gone, if there is an Internet access, I'd try to write an entry from where I was. I had written an entry before from the KLIA, from UTP (of course) and just recently, from Johor Bahru (haha).
I'm also proud to see that I have avid readers from different parts of the world. Though many may not be interested in what I write, I find that readers from the USA, China, Australia and even England often drop by my blog, either by chance or otherwise.
Besides Random Rantings, this blog is my Primary Blog in which most of my personal thoughts are centred here. This is a blog which I control alone, but Random Rantings has a group of contributors in it. With these two blogs, I am able to seek shelter in either of the blogs.
My days of blogging remain uncertain, because we will never know what lies ahead for web logs. Back then when I first started blogging back in 2002, barely anybody knew about it. Now, it's like a part of life for people to blog. More and more people have taken up an interest in blogging, but how many would stay faithful to it remains a question.
Almost everybody now owns a blog. Some of them have been very successful bloggers like Kenny Sia and many more; some prefer to stay quiet and with a low profile. Some like to turn their blogs into photoblogs, while some prefer to have a mixture of photographs and texts in their blogs.
The development of web logs has come a long way. Previously, blogging was just seen as an online diary. Now, people often use blogs to pass information, express opinions and so on.
The joy of blogging to me is inexplicable. It acts as a portal that connects me to the outside world beyond my home, beyond my comfortable zone (which perhaps, isn't that comfortable after all).
And now that I'm a brother in Christ, I've found my spiritual portal too. I hope to achieve greater success in my future endeavour.
And I wish that all of you will continue to be in the best of health and every success in whatever you pursue. Happy New Year 2007!
