Sigh.....
Oh, did I say that my National Science Quiz is on the 23rd of July 2005? Oh well, my teammates and I were looking forward to that day indeed, until a letter arrived yesterday and caused Mrs. Yee to be utterly frantic. She was looking for me up and down until almost the whole school knows that she wanted to see me. Apparently, it was Yik Hoe (if I'm not mistaken) who told me that Mrs. Yee was looking for me.
The news that she brought was that the quiz is postponed to the 14th, 15th and 16th of August (Sunday, Monday and Tuesday!). Oh, gee! We'll be staying overnight in Perlis! I hope it's in a hotel. The worst part of all is that I have my IT trial paper on 15th of August! I've already consulted Pn. Leela (my IT teacher, to those who don't know. She's a nice teacher! ;-Þ) and she agreed to let me and Izharul sit for the paper a day or two later.
I don't really understand why the postponing came so sudden. Perhaps it is because that the teachers from schools of other states are complaining about a long and tired journey to compete in other states. Well, take for example, participants from Johor would have to go to Perlis to compete with us. That long and tiring journey, according to the teacher perhaps, would cause a decline in their concentration and thinking. Maybe that's why the Akademi Sains has decided to let us stay overnight so that we can have a rest first before the quiz. On the 14th we are scheduled to be at Perlis; on the 15th, according to Mrs. Yee we would be brought on a tour (or a field-trip) to some technological institute. Then, we'll be having our quiz on the 16th.
You could have said that participants who are far, far away can fly to their destination. The problem is that the air-fare is only borne by Akademi Sains IF and ONLY IF participants make it to the National levels and that they are far away from KL. As this is only the Zone levels, we have to arrange for our own transportation. Even participants from Sabah and Sarawak have to fly to the peninsular on their own expenses. It's fortunate that Mr. Yee could fetch us to Perlis.
Honestly, we don't really like the idea of postponing the quiz. We want to get over with it as soon as possible. But that's not meant to be. Oh well, what can I do? Run amok? Ah, no. I won't do that.
