What did I do?
OK, now some "What did I do?" session. What have I actually done for the day? Well, actually nothing much, because I'm currently down with nasty flu which I'm anxious to recover if possible by this Friday.
I started the morning with the piano; I managed to get hold of the song "The Exodus Song", yeah, to those who listen to Maksim's playing, you should know how it sounds like. It's in the original, simple and plain form so I edited the piece myself, without losing the original touch, making it more technically demanding and more enriched tonally.
Then, in the afternoon, I received a letter from Kuching (addressed to me, mind you!). The sender was from the Market Management Service, and I guessed as much that it is actually the branch of the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB). I gave them a call and asked them to send my AMusA (Diploma) certificate directly to me, which they have happily complied. They said it would take at least a week, but it reached me within 5 days. What good service!
Anyway, the postman who delivered the certificate was a monster! He must be illiterate in English! The envelope that contained the certificate clearly stated "PLEASE DO NOT BEND", and that dumb postman actually bent it and stuffed it into my postbox, together with the other letters! It is fortunate that the AMEB took precautions while sending the certificates; they laid the certificate into a folder and inserted the certificate into an A4 size envelope with a hard cardboard inside it to prevent it from bending and folding (it's marvellous how the postman had the strength to actually bend it), and also wrapped the whole envelope in a clear plastic sheet. Luckily, the certificate was just bent and not folded, at least I could "unbend" it again using heavy books and weight them onto the certificate. I'll frame it when it's OK.
After that, I continued with my other work. I started composing a new piece in the afternoon and finished it in the evening using a notation software. I'll try and get the copyright. I know just how. It's the first tonal masterpiece that I've created. The other compositions are atonal, or simply known as impressionism. Er... I'm lazy to explain any further.
At night, I've been receiving countless of telephone calls until 10.45 pm! It's obvious that my friends have been feeling very bored after the SPM examinations. I would feel the same too if I am not occupied for these few weeks. I plan to get a part-time job in January, if I am still in Ipoh and when I'm not so tight on my schedule. Maybe I'll take up teaching in one of the tuition centres whereby I'm very familiar with the principal of the centre. Maybe one of these days I'll pay a visit to the Ipoh International School (previously known as Tenby School) and see how the new principal (actually, he's my former principal) is doing. Perhaps, I'll need him someday to be my referee for my testimonial. He has graciously offered during the 8th of November dinner that if I need a referee for a testimonial, he can and is willing to do so because he is still a principal (only in another school) and I was under his administration for the past 5 years.
I was surfing in TheStar Online and got hooked up by this letter: refer http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2005/12/7/focus/12654609&sec=focus . Apparently, the Joshua Beh and Jessie Chung issue is still quite hot. I couldn't agree more with the writer of the letter, and I liked his last paragraph the best, "If religion is to be the question, then let he who is without sin cast the first stone."
