Future plans

What can a university student on holiday do? To be honest, a six-week holiday, though much sought after by my university mates, can be extremely dull and boring if there is nothing to do, right? And if you're an Ipoh boy, chances are that there wouldn't be much for you to do after all.

So, what are my plans after this? First of all, I'll be going for the International Medical University (IMU) debates which will be held on the 9th, 10th and 11th of December 2006. I'm going as an observer because I have no or very little experience in British Parliamentary Style debates; I'm only familiar with the Asian Parliamentary style.

Besides just going for the debates, I've some extra agenda, too. I've watched the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra previously. (Great, a power failure at this time! Now, it's back up again.) I found the MPO performance simply breathtaking. Therefore, I've decided that I'll go and watch again. The experience is simply irresistible.

What would a university or college student do during holidays? Normally, he or she would go out and look for a part-time job to do. That's exactly what I'm going to do after my debates. I had previously worked in a music school, and I am going back to the same centre to work again for the next five or so weeks. I'm quite well paid there so why shouldn't I work, right? It's better than spending time around at home doing nothing and going online so often. I wouldn't want my Internet bill to soar sky-high.

A year has almost passed without my knowing. In fact, my university mates also think that these two semesters have passed like the wind. We have completed one of our four-and-a-half (for Technology students) or five years (for Engineering students) in UTP. Seriously, I never felt one year to fly this quick, too. It seems like yesterday when I first stepped into the university.

Throughout this two semesters, there have been sweet and bitter moments that we went through together. It has been quite a memorable year for me, and I am indeed looking forward to what is in store for us next year.
