A great deal lot to write today!

OK, so how shall I start? First of all, there was a power failure last Friday or Saturday, and that cost me my Internet connection for two days (Note: I never expected a power failure in such a "prestigious" university). Even when the power came back, the server failed to restart itself, so I stayed disconnected from the Internet until this morning.

All right, so let me update you with some news around me. First of all, my hostel block is prone to floods. There was once when it rained very heavily for a few hours, and the ground floor was flooded. I'm fortunate that I'm at the first floor. I pity those living downstairs, really! Due to the flood problem, the university has decided to take safety measures. Just a few days ago, a bigger and deeper drain was made near my block. For the past few days, I was rudely awakened by the sound of the cement mixing machine and the tractors. I thought, "Oh, gosh! Is this going to be my daily alarm clock for the next few weeks?" However, to my surprise, it wasn't so. The drain is now almost complete. Well, I sure hope that it's done nicely.

Besides the drainage, our Lecture Hall 1 is closed for rectification, too. Apparently, some things need to be repaired inside. So, for the time being, lectures in that particular lecture hall have to be conducted at the Multi-purpose Hall.

All right, last Saturday, to my surpirse, my Basic Dance and Movements class was cancelled. According to Jared, he said that our coach was having fever, so he cancelled the class. Due to the release of SPM results, he even cancelled the class this week. Oh dear, definitely a lot of replacements then! Apparently, even some of the other co-curricular classes have been cancelled for this week in conjunction with the release of the SPM results.

Now we came to yesterday. Oh, my Sunday certainly started well! Now, how shall I start it? First of all, I woke up at 10.30 a.m. and I remembered that I've got an appointment with Minh Anh, Josiah, Brian and Hann who are my university friends. We were supposed to go to Ipoh together to do some shopping at Jusco. Suddenly, Hann received a message from Minh Anh saying that she was waiting at the main gate of the university, so we walked straight out. To our surprise, we saw that she was standing at the entrance of an express bus, the kind that takes passengers to Kuala Lumpur or Singapore. Brian was having co-curricular activities, so we asked him to rush to the main gate. Apparently, Minh Anh managed to talk to the driver to give us a lift to Ipoh. So, together we sat in that comfortable, spacious and air-conditioned bus down to Ipoh. It only cost us RM3.00 to get there. Well, RM3.00 is quite worth it, considering the fact that we were in an air-conditioned, 24-seat bus. From the Ipoh main bus station, we took another bus to Jusco.

In Jusco, we had lunch and began our shopping for clothes. Need I say again that I'm involved in a singing band? Minh Anh is the vocalist, Hann is the drummer, Josiah is the bassist and Brian plays the other types of percussions. I'm the keyboardist. And because I'm in the band, therefore I have to change my image during the competition. The Yew Guo Zheng who you know will be different on the 18th of March, 2006, with a new style of dressing and a new hairdo (Josiah agreed to give me one; I've bad taste in hairdos). In Jusco, I bought a red round-neck shirt and a pair of jeans. Jeans! Who would expect an "old-fashioned" Guo Zheng to be wearing jeans? Do I look like one who looks fine in jeans? Well, time will tell. I'll take a picture and show you then.

OK, so everything went well until we decided to watch the Pink Panther movie. Well, it was a hilarious movie, and I must admit that it is a "MUST-WATCH"! I had my sides aching after all the laughing. Actually, I warned the others before the movie that we might not be able to catch the bus back to UTP because the movie ended at 7.05 p.m. but they wanted to watch it so badly that I just followed their desires. Anyway, by the time we came out of Jusco, we missed the 7 o'clock bus, so we had to wait until 7.45 p.m. before the final bus for the day came to fetch us to the main bus station.

Upon our arrival at the station, I knew that we had missed that last bus that travelled to Tronoh. Eventually, we had to take a taxi back, and it was no cheap ride! I had to spend RM11 for a ride back to UTP! To me, it wasn't worth the money at all. This is the penalty that I have to pay for watching a movie, huh? To me, we could watch the movie together at some other time, not necessarily yesterday! Oh, what a "nice" way to end a Sunday. Hmmph!

Anyway, forget about what happened yesterday. I needed some space in my blog to express some of my frustration and disappointment, too, right? You should understand that I need a channel to express my feelings because I'm the only child. Well, now that I'm in university, I know that I have a lot of friends who are willing to be my listeners and I appreciate them deeply. But before this, it's my loyal blog who is my ultimate listener.

So we came to today now. My day started quite badly today. Before I left for my Chemistry laboratory, I realised that I'd misplaced my wallet and it couldn't be found anywhere! I searched here and there, but it was all in vain. At last, I had to go for Chemistry lab and finish my work there first. At around 10.30 a.m. I rushed back to my room to search for my wallet again, this time looking for it from every corner. Then, to my disgust, it was in between two books on the bookshelf. I knew that I put it there! Sigh... anyway, I thank God for helping me find my wallet back. I can't imagine what will happen without my wallet.

Now to some general matters. I still haven't started my Physics assignment yet, and it's due on the 18th of March. I'd better start doing my assignment tomorrow, when I've got the time. I can't imagine how I could answer the questions on topics that my lecturer has not covered. Oh well, looks like we students have to do a lot of self-study. We can't always depend on the lecturers, right?

Tests are coming this week. I've still got a lot more to revise. Hopefully the tests wouldn't be so difficult. Hey, the marks from these tests are accumulated for the final examination, you know?

I have to keep stressing that university life might be slightly more relaxing than secondary school life, because if there are no assignments or anything else, basically you can have the rest of the day after lectures and tutorials by yourself! You can do anything you like and nobody is going to care tuppence about you. In university, you can do anything you like that your parents forbade you to. Hehe... I'm teaching you bad things, huh? But this is the fact! You are now free from your parents! So treasure it while it lasts.
