Farthest walk so far

Well, I know that I should be thankful about having lectures in the New Academic Complex starting today but to those out there who have yet to study in a university, believe me, today is the day when I walked the farthest to lectures.

I'm not undermining the fact that the Technology and many other students have to undergo the same experience as me but let me lay it out here that I'm not complaining about the long journey. What worries me now is that we will not be able to go for lectures punctually after another lecture elsewhere.

Today, I had a lecture in the New Academic Complex at Building 14 (Civil Engineering Block), Level 2, Room 09. It is located next to Pocket C (where the Technology students have their lectures, too) and is by far the farthest lecture room or lecture theatre for us. At 1.00 p.m. we had an adjunct lecture by Associate Professor Dr. N.S. Rajendran (from Universiti Perguruan Sultan Idris; UPSI for short) on Thinking Skills. Basically, he was relating his experience and how important it is to be a thinker rather than being a follower of ideas.

The adjunct lecture was from 1.00 p.m. to 3.00 p.m. However, the Civil Engineering students for Foundation Studies have the Engineering Mathematics lecture at Building 14, so we had to walk from the Multi-Purpose Hall all the way to Building 14. We took about 15 minutes to reach Building 14 and had to climb to the highest floor. Most of us were exhausted from the long and rushing walk.

Now you can picture for yourselves how big the university is. Anyway, it was a great experience to be having lectures in the New Academic Complex, something of which most of us have dreamt of. But imagine that, say, you have Thinking Skills lecture now in Lecture Hall 1 (at the old block) and then right after that, you have your Engineering Mathematics in Building 14. You will definitely won't be able to reach your next lecture on time. That's certain.

It's quite a shame to hear that a lot of my friends weren't selected for the PETRONAS sponsorship EduCamp which will be held on the 15th of April. I expected a lot of my friends would be able to make it, but there are those who obtained straight 1A's who weren't even selected for the interview! So far, only three of my friends got the offer for the interview. Even so, nobody knows if these three will be selected for the intake in UTP or overseas. Well, all the best to them!

Well, I've got to admit to you that I've an assignment to complete now. My Engineering Mathematics assignment is due this Saturday and I've not started yet. So off I go now!
