Some updates
All right, I've got my matrix card (which is my UTP student card) after waiting for it for almost six weeks! They promised to give us our student cards by the week after Chinese New Year, but due to delays and tender problems, they could only produce our identification cards after almost two months. Disappointing, right?
But nothing could be more disappointing than this. You see, I've just had my mid-semester holidays, and during the holidays I'd received an e-mail from the Information Resource Centre (IRC) of UTP, saying that I've not returned the Calculus book that I'd borrowed. However, in fact, I've returned the book on the Friday before my SPM results were released. It was about four days before the due date! And what did the librarian do? Nothing! They didn't update the status of the book as being borrowed, much to my annoyance, and they assured me that it is settled.
The reminder e-mail that they sent to me came by surprise, as it was a second reminder. I replied saying that I have returned the book long ago and even gave the date of return together with the approximate time of return. I hoped that they would read the e-mail and do something with it.
Today, I went to the IRC to get myself some Physics reference books. The textbook that I have by Cutnell & Johnson isn't so comprehensible to me, so I figured that I need some other reference books that might help me. I've got two Physics books which I've read before and I think are good for me. I went to the librarian and said that I wanted to borrow the two books. I asked him if my loan status for the Calculus book has been cleared. He said that I've got one book that I've not returned, so I indignantly said that I have returned it long, long ago! He was like, "Oh, really? Then I'll correct the error." I also expressed my disappointment about receiving the two reminders to return the aforesaid book when it had been returned already!
Besides that, I have submitted a complaint form to the Student Representative Council of UTP (SRCUTP) regarding the cleanliness problem of the cafeterias in UTP. Lately, I have noticed that flies are sighted in large numbers, in fact too much for comfort. It is clear that when flies appear, often cleanliness is at stake. Health problems may soon arise, too. When I go for my meals, often, it is not the taste that I emphasise, but more on cleanliness, which is why I like to go to the cafeteria in Village 5 for meals, although it is very far from my hostel, because its cleanliness is being taken care of constantly. So far, my complaint form has been received with good intent, and I have received a reply from the Welfare EXCO of SRCUTP stating that they will forward this matter to the Management. Well, I certainly hope that they keep their word.
OK, I think that is enough for now. There is a computer fair at Pocket D in the New Academic Complex. I hope I can get a cheap but good digital camera. After all, I've been paid RM1100 by my aunt, because she said that she will pay me RM100 for every A that I've obtained in my SPM result, and I've got straight A's. She really kept her word, and gave me RM1100 just like that. Now, I've some extra cash to spend on in my university! Still, I have to be careful and think of my budget thoroughly.
