SPM 2005 Results
Today is the day when there will be cries of joy as well as tears of disappointment. It happens every year, sad to say. This is the day when all Form 5 students will get to know their SPM exam results. In the country, there are more than 4000 students scoring straight A's, and out of these, 945 students scored straight 1A's. My congratulations to those who have secured straight A's and straight 1A's!
So, you are wondering what did I get huh? Do you really want to know? Couldn't you guess how did I do? Do you think that I'm one of the 4000 plus students or one of the 945? If you think that I'm one of the 4000 plus students, you are right, but if you think that I'm one of the 945, I'm sorry that I've disappointed you then. I scored straight A's for my SPM. I've obtained 9 1A's and 2 2A's (if you include the 1A for my GCE-O Levels English, that would be 10 1A's. Some schools include this, but mine doesn't)! To me, it is quite an achievement. I scored 2A for Moral Education and Information Technology. I can't really understand why I couldn't secure a 1A for the former, though, but getting a 2A for IT is almost expected. Nevertheless, I've no intention to re-check. Anyway, I'm quite happy with my results. The subjects (History and Biology) that I dreaded the most turned out to be 1A's!
Overall, there are 26 students scoring straight A's in my school, whereby three of them scored straight 1A's, namely Chong Kah Loong (11 1A's), Andrew Wong Yoon Loong and Keith Foo (both scored 10 1A's respectively). I find this result better than last year's, because previously there were less students scoring straight A's and none scored straight 1A's last year (the best result was by Ban Vin Shen, who obtained 11 1A's and 1 2A [for Accounting])
OK, now I couldn't care more about my SPM results already. The important thing is that I've secured my place in UTP! I've got other friends who are trying to apply for sponsorship from PETRONAS to get admission into UTP. I wish them best of luck! We're eager to have them here in UTP, too. We're more eager to have juniors from St. Michael's so fast already. Hehe... anyway, it's nice to have friends whom we've known for quite a long time studying together in the same university.
For those who have got excellent results, why not try your luck to get the prestigious PSD scholarships? Or if you're interested in doing Engineering or IT, why not apply for PETRONAS sponsorship (the website is http://esuonline.petronas.com.my. The application form is online. Apply now!). Note that the closing date is 20th of March 2006. So hurry!
For those who didn't do so well in the SPM exams, don't despair. You can go for Form 6 and do STPM. It might be difficult so consistent work is a must already. Get your basics and foundations right so that you can do better for STPM. Remember, STPM examines you on only 4 or 5 subjects, whereas SPM tested us on more than 7 subjects. So, studying for 4 subjects should be easier compared to 9, 10 or 11 (or even more than that!).
Finally, I wish all the best to all who will be pursuing their pre-university studies, wherever and whenever you are.
