Ultimate Wireless Technology
I've given this a thorough thought myself. As I have mentioned earlier, I am now using a wireless router to connect my laptop to the Internet, and at the same time being able to share my Internet connection with my coursemate, Josiah Tay, who is staying with me in Ipoh for our one-week mid-semester holidays.
This wireless technology has fascinated me for quite some time. I have seen wireless mouse, wireless routers and so on! It mesmerises me very much to know the fact that nowadays, there are less and less cables being used on our modern-day computers, especially laptops! Laptops are now built in with DVD-RAM, speakers, touch-pad, USB ports and all the necessary accessories needed. We can practically go without any wires at all (let the battery provide the power).
So, let me practise my Thinking Skills that I have learnt in UTP here. Picture this possibility. Imagine that everything is going wireless now. You can now connect to the Internet from wherever you are, whether you are at home, at the playground, in the toilet, etc. This wireless technology is so powerful that you can practically access your computer remotely from another place (perhaps from your office or a friend's house) without connecting to the Internet, but simply through Wireless. Imagine that you do not even need a power cord to provide your laptop the power needed to operate. What you need is just a wireless adaptor that can emit waves at a certain frequency. We know that waves are a form of energy. Energy can be converted from one form to another. If we have the means, we can try to convert waves into electric energy to generate the power needed to operate the laptop.
To make this possible, the most important thing would be to tune the frequency of the wireless adaptor and frequency of the power generator of the laptop to be the same. The resonance that occur because of similar frequency will help to generate electricity in the laptop. If this works, then eventually our computers will no longer need any wires at all! Only then, can we say that our computers are going absolutely "wireless".
I am looking forward to the day when we live in a wireless world. No more tripping yourself on wires, and less fire threats. Nevertheless, we have to make sure that this wireless technology will not put a toll on our health.
