I'm back home...
For my mid-semester break which last for a week. I've brought my coursemate, Josiah, from Johor Bahru, home with me too. Hopefully, both of us can spend our mid-semester break properly to finish off our assignments before we return to UTP.
Today, Jia Min called quite a lot of Michaelians and her friend Joanna to go for a movie (name of Movie: Shaggy Dog). But before that, I went to school with Josiah and showed him around in school. While he looked around the school, I took the time to meet some old teachers. I managed to meet Cik Salwana, Cik Louis Mary, Pn. Noorazizan, Mrs. Chen (Pn. Lim Kooi Wan), Mrs. Dass, Miss Ling and Pn. Leela. I had a talk with them and they seemed to be quite happy about my results and my studies in UTP. In school, I managed to meet some of my friends, too. Apparently, quite a number of them applied for sponsorship from PETRONAS. Well, my best wishes to them!
After that, I fetched Josiah, Kee Cheong, Jonathan Chew and Eric Tiew from school to Jusco, where Jia Min had called us to watch the movie. I have to admit that Shaggy Dog was very much less hilarious compared to The Pink Panther Movie. Nevertheless, it was a good one. After the movie, we went to the food court to have a chat. I didn't feel like having lunch and neither did Jared. So, we just sat there and talked. After a while, I got myself a drink because I was simply too thirsty! Not long after that, all of us decided to go to Popular Bookstores. I, on the other hand, asked Josiah if he would like to follow me to Redcom Computers because I wanted to get a wireless router. Josiah and I would be staying in my house for a week and both of us would like to use the Internet, but it would be a hassle for me to switch cables with him if I don't have a router. However, I don't want to get a wired router because that would involve too many LAN cables, thus causing my house to be messy with a lot of wires. I looked for a wireless router and found one which, to me, is quite a good buy. The wireless router which I had selected can connect up to 32 computers via wireless, plus four more computers using wired LAN (if they do not have a wireless network card).
The router originally cost RM229, but I managed to get it for RM210. It has a lifetime warranty, it is light and small so I really like it very much. After dinner, I set the router up and managed to get it working. As I'm typing now, Josiah is also on the Internet. Now, both of us can be online on the same time, and we can surf the Internet in my room upstairs, while the router and the ADSL modem are located downstairs. Good, isn't it?
I'm quite happy with the fact that I could setup a wireless connection myself in spite of having no knowledge whatsoever about wireless network. Nevertheless, the basic networking that I'd learnt during my IT lessons in Form 4 and Form 5 helped me very much, because the basics of creating a network is there. It's the same if you connect through a Wired or Wireless router, except that one needs all the LAN cables while the other doesn't. I can literally surf the Internet wherever I want, even in the toilet. Haha... However, I need to find out how I can disconnect the router from the Internet using the wireless. Then it wouldn't be such a hassle for me to go downstairs just to switch off the router. It would be better if I'd known how to switch off the router remotely.
Well, I'll study about it now! I'm penning off!
